All the shopping is done, the tin of sweets are well in to and the beer has been poured. This was on the way back from last errand in the car this evening.

Busy lately. Here's some of what I've been busy doing.
We went to the food fair at the NEC, Birmingham.

We tripped over lots of these bloody things. I had my revenge by using them as litter bins when the owners weren't looking

We liked this so much we actually went out and bought some. Only for the occasional use as it is a little expensive to drink all day. 

 

 

We met him and some of the Great British Bake Off team.

 Back nearer to home and we really have had some rain. This is a bridge over a disused canal. It hasn't seen this much water in years. This was two days after the picture below it.

After the rain

It had been raining all day. Come 3 o'clock it slowed a little, by half past it had stopped. I picked up my camera and took the dog for a walk before it got dark.
Here is a tree bathed in golden sunset light with the receding dark rainy sky in the background. A beautiful end to a very grey day.

How stupid can you be?

However daft you may think you are it probably doesn't come close to this sheer idiocy. Have close look at this, this battery weighs just under a ton, and contains over 100kg of electrolyte (acid). Batteries give off a highly explosive gas when charging and discharging. If you 'cross' the terminals with a metal object it short circuits, complete with big sparks and intense heat. This metal knife was found like this, actually in contact with one terminal beneath it's protective shroud.

Our local restaurant does quite a nice curry. The Poppadums are only good because the dips are excellent.

Some from the cold wait at a local display. We have always paid in the past but the biggest driver of absence from the payers at this display is the speed of exit. I hate getting stuck in a 20 minute queue to exit the 200m driveway of the place.

This time of year usually brings out the sparkler writing photo's. This year ours were not as good as they could have been. After the sparklers had been used up the torch came in to play. Fuelled by Rosé and a local 'real ale' I couldn't resist this one and it amused me somewhat.

We don't like Pumpkin pie so after the end of October the use for Pumpkins has burnt out. In this case literally.

I love being mortal, hate mortality. Sometimes it's a right bastard. Other times it's inevitable. It's still sad though and it still hurts inside. Maggie, ,, my other Mum, RIP x
